Everyone admires a self confident person. They seem at ease with themselves, they invite trust and inspire confidence in others.
It's not often easy for an individual to be confident, especially if he/she is being self-critical or being put down by others. But there are steps that can be taken to improve self-confidence.
Confidence is seen as the feeling or belief that one can have faith in someone or something. Confidence can also be seen as feeling sure of yourself and your abilities- not in an arrogant way but in a realistic way.
Self-confidence is the understanding that you trust your own judgment and abilities, and that you value yourself and feel worthy, regardless of any imperfections or of what others may believe about you.
"So he said he doesn't like me and I don't know what to do. He led me on, like completely. I really thought we had something. Why am I so horrible? If he can't like me then who will? Nothing's right. Nothing's going my way. I'm worthless!"❌❌❌❌❌
Confidence comes from investing in yourself. When you research, learn, grow and improve, you gain confidence.
We lack confidence when we always seek validation from others. If you're always wishing, wanting and waiting for people to like you then guess what? You'll always be wishing, wanting and waiting to be confident.
Instead of asking others, "How do I look in this?" Ask yourself "How do I look in this?" Define for yourself what is important to you what you value, what you believe is the definition of your own happiness and success.
They say that "No amount of compliments will matter if you don't compliment yourself." And if you change what you like because others don't like you then you will end up not liking yourself.
When you only feel pretty when someone says it, your beauty is dependent on them.
When you only feel smart when someone says it, your intelligence is dependent on them. Your creativity is dependent on them.
When you only feel successful when someone sees it, your success is dependent on them.
When you're looking to be validated by others, you're living according to their values, not yours. Which means you become what they think they value as success. And who knows where their definition came from?
The summary of it all is that; when you're self-confident, you trust your own judgment and abilities. It means having a strong sense of self-worth and self-belief.
